Global Peace Camp

Little Mountain Global Peace Camp offers a unique and visionary academic program intended to prepare university students not only for the strict, sometimes overwhelming workload of the Western university experience, but also for the demands of communication and the need to understand complex issues in our ever-evolving, global society.

Our extremely ambitious and intensive curriculum generates a context for EFL students to consider, discuss and debate our world's most pressing issues. Camp participants are consistently challenged to learn about our global community both in the classroom and during our excursions and outdoor activities.

Frequent guest presentations and workshops from Non-governmental organizations support student’s quest to learn hands on from practitioners in international development, health and other areas.(Organizations previously involved: Oxfam, ULead, Doctors without Borders, Red Cross and more…). Of course our focus remains: English Language Education. Working from the knowledge that the ideal language learner is self-motivated, we enforce a strict English immersion environment 24 hours a day.

Accommodation:

GP camper's will be housed in the UBC dormitories. Each student is given a room to themselves, and share a bathroom with 4-5 others. The dormitories are right in the middle of UBC campus, so GP camp students will get a taste of life as a UBC student.

Afternoon Excursions:

Although the GP camp is an intensive English language program, there is still time to get out and experience Vancouver. Each afternoon during the week and on weekends students are taken to various places of interest throughout the greater Vancouver area. Activities range from museums to kayaking, giving all students a good mix of physical and mental exercise. For a complete list of activities, please refer to our schedule.
