Online
An online class involves the teacher and all of the students being in our online classroom.

What is the difference between ‘Hybrid Classes’ and ‘Online Classes’?
A hybrid class includes both physical students and students who are joining from home. Screens in the classroom display the students who are joining from home.
Online Classes only include students who are at home.
What is a hybrid class and how many students are there?
A hybrid class enables students to experience our Little Mountain classes either by attending the class physically at our school on the UBC campus, or by joining online from home. Students can choose which option best suits them. There is a maximum of 6 students in each class. Our small class sizes ensure that every member of the class gets plenty of time with their teacher to make the best progress possible.
Is the learning the same between online students and students in the physical classroom?
Yes, whether in the room or joining online, all students access the same great teaching, curriculum, resources, in-class materials, and discussion opportunities. Everything involved in our programs has been utilised for both the physical and online environments.
Will the online students be able to see and hear everything?
Our classrooms are equipped with HD 360 degree cameras which clearly display everything that is going on in the classroom. Speech-enhancing microphones placed around the classroom ensure that students joining class from home can clearly hear the teacher and their classmates. The speakers in the classroom also ensure that online students can be heard loud and clear.
What about interaction with peers?
Discussion, group work and project-based learning are important parts of all of our programs. Encouraging and enabling students to interact and actively engage with one another is at the heart of our programs. Our hybrid classrooms are designed for this, making the most of hardware and software to minimise the distance between learners who are in the room and those who are joining from elsewhere.
How will the teacher mark the students’ work?
Physical students will have their work marked either directly on their work, or through utilising digital tools if the work has been completed on a computer. Online students are able to submit their homework using our online classroom software. Then, the teacher can mark and provide feedback just as they do with the physical students.
Do all of the students still get the same focussed attention from the teacher?
Yes, our teachers ensure that all students get the most from our classes as possible. Whether the student is at home or in the classroom, the teacher will ensure that everyone is actively engaged at all times. Questions and comments are heard by all and real-time support and feedback are provided consistently for all of the students in our small classes.
